I was working in Piscataway, NJ about 30 miles outside of NYC. We watched the towers fall live on TV before our managers sent us home. I spent many hours trying to reach my sister who lived in NYC. She was safe but had traveled through the WTC subway station an hour before the attack. Scary.

I missed this. I was awake in the guest bedroom feeding my daughter when I heard my husband screaming from the living room. I saw the 2nd plane hit live. I decided not to have more children that morning https://warpcast.com/trish/0xbfdaefae

I was working early on the west coast and the only one in the shop so had NPR on the radio. It was surreal because at first I thought it was some kind of radio drama and not real. I called my housemates and told them to go turn on the tv and tell me if an attack was really happening in NY.

Standing in my kitchen, talking to friend on the phone. He told me to turn the TV on. I had been laid off from my job the day before and was planning to hit the ground running looking for a new job. That didn’t happen. Went to my dad’s house (didn’t want to be alone) and just watched TV most of the day.

I was in Japan, finished watching a movie (Needful Things) with my mother and had just asked her if she thinks real evil exists in the world, when it came up on breaking news. It was like an answer to my question and an unforgettable moment for me.

Back home from school in Greece. Watching news with my dad, who just said: β€œWatch, things are gonna get ugly soon”. He was right.

Waking up for school, didn't have any reaction or emotional connection to it besides dreading the nationalism backlash.

I’m a young millennial: I was in 2nd grade in westchester. I remember class ending early and my mom picking me up, which was strange because earlier she had left for work on the metro north. Turns out she saw the planes go by on the train and it turned around mid-route. My dad came home later; he had already been in the city and it was impossible for him to get back quickly bc they shut down train service. My parents tried to keep us from watching the news, but we went out on our boat into the Long Island sound the next day or so, and I can still see the smoke masking the entire city so clearly. I also remember my classmates whose parents were working in the towers and the memorials the followed. I work so close to ground zero. I ran by yesterday to pay my respects and it reminded me of the importance of choosing love over hate ❀️

I was a freshman in college at William Paterson University (Paterson, NJ). I was in my 8am figure drawing class drawing naked people when the first plane hit. We were all sent back to our dorms and from my dorm room window I could see the twin towers faintly and remember seeing the explosion from the second plane.
