yaaa, BUT, e.g. Chrome on iOS seems to be artificially held back. E.g. Chrome iOS users cannot add a webapp to home screen. And I doubt that‘s caused by Google being late and more by Safari having privileged OS access. It‘s so sad that these companies put their profit motive before building an open web.

Fair point, I checked for us @kiwi iOS visitors Safari: 88% Chrome: 12% However: iOS Chrome users cohort is almost as big as total Android user cohort 🤡 . So while you're right, I still think it's a cohort worth serving.

For what it's worth, I have an android phone that costs more than any iOS device. I feel like there's a narrative created by Apple that iOS = premium. It's nonsense, and it doesn't take into account how many people in crypto care about open source and permissionless technologies.

this is true. I know many "high income" people that use Android. But it's anecdotal. Statistically I can see that the likelihood of a person being rich is much higher if they happen to own an iPhone

Yeah, there's no doubt that iOS is dominant among "premium" users. I just wish more crypto people would actually give a shit about not using a closed platform that takes 30% of everything. There are some of us here who refuse to touch iOS on principle.

Some of us are into crypto but not into decentralization for everything…

It’s not a criticism of crypto. Would you buy a decentralized car? Today?

I don't know what it would mean for a car to be decentralized, but I would absolutely love to buy a car built using open source designs and running open source software.

That’s kind of my point. We can be enthusiastic about decentralization and open source without needing it everywhere. Personally, I have no problem with the Apple Store 30% take.

It's not about decentralization as much as it's about permissionlessness and open standards. Apple makes it impossible to install software on a device that you own if they haven't first approved it in their closed system. I find that totally unacceptable.
