Lol, that's a bad analogy, as Texas has a ton of wind. Also CA is a massive net importer of electricity on hot days (from fossil fuel based sources). They also barely kept Diablo Canyon open last year. Too many people here are focused on climate virtue signaling.

Yea, maybe example was a bit extreme. But OC chart was about solar, and California's solar production is 2X that of Texas I believe.

Again, you have to do it on an overall mix basis. California has more population. My original point was California is not serious about it's ambitious climate goals that they make a big stink over. Texas on the other hand just keeps adding more energy

California has incentivized solar for the past 20 years to the point where we have double the capacity of Texas. We are serious about the climate goals. Texas beats us one year on installs only and you’re singing its praises? Why did they beat us? Because the PG&E and SCE radically cut the payment out to residential solar generators with NEM 2.0. Demand was through the roof before lawmakers gave the power companies yet another handout.

Lawmakers are elected by Californians? Did you see how close people got to closing Diablo Canyon (20% of state’s carbon free electricity)? Majority of California’s imported electricity is from fossil fuels.

It’s all natural gas though. I am seeing an increase in programs offering battery storage over just solar in the past. With the install base of solar already so high here this makes sense. We require solar on almost all new construction. It’s pretty laughable to say we aren’t serious about the climate goals.
