But the muscles impacted pretty much the same? Other than grip, lats (rdl) and spinal loading (gm)

They're both hinge movement patterns, so yea basically the same.

I've only done good mornings straddled on a bench, it was all back no hamstrings or glutes. maybe I was doing them wrong.

I'm not sure that was a GM 😅 The hinge should be same/similar to an RDL.
