1) These videos are getting better -- @jessepollak street interview game getting stronger (we see you G). It's fun watching "normal" people react to offers of crypto 😆

2) Real talk, I don't understand why crypto is better for IRL small businesses than existing payment rails. Is it mainly the fee structure? 

I've understood financial bundling (https://haseebq.com/crypto-is-financial-unbundling/) to be beneficial for businesses because it reduces risk -- though it can also hurt them via chargebacks

Genuine question and curious to learn from folks who know more about the payments space

the same reasons it's better than fiat: decentralization, self-custody, borderlessness, composability, no intermediaries, speed - and of course higher margins.

fear of adoption is the vector sum of distrust in an unknown financial system and suboptimal ux. the first fades as education spreads, and we're taking care of the second :)

@samczsun @aeyakovenko The main new development is that market participants are now moth-like. They actively rush into these scams, mostly knowing that they are scams, because the goal is to flip the scam for a 3x to somebody else.

heres a really simple idea - the next time a massive account gets hacked and promotes an obvious scam, maybe the frontend should manually delist the scam? surely there could be no objections to this, unless the goal is to enable people to gamble at the casino?

I think this will lead to regulation, not total collapse. but it’d be far better if we established clear standards to self-regulate before it gets to that point.

this entire industry is caught in a tragedy of the commons and if we cant collectively agree on what is socially unacceptable and how to sanction that behavior, theres not gonna be an industry to build in real soon. you might have market dominance but even 100% of 0 is still 0

even if the original vision of memecoins was good, its hard to believe anyone can argue in good faith that the current meta is anything but negative sum. memecoins are a wildfire burning through our industry, and if we dont want to be left with only ashes then it's time to act

one way to view the current state of crypto is that ethereum traded a portion of its market cap to send all the grifters who had been plaguing it over to solana.

this is the best possible outcome long-term as ethereum reaffirms its role as the world computer and the place for permissionless innovation.
