The right agent should be able to maximize taste/nutrition per $ spent. taking into account personal preferences, local availability, cooking difficulty (if not buying elsewhere) and a given nutritional goal. It’s a well established field but is a lot of manual work which is why it’s a great candidate for AI.

I have a nutritionist and I've been meaning to feed all the information she's given me, namely the meal plans into a gpt to kind of prototype this for myself.

Generally agree. I’ll draft a prompt here as a v1 in case anyone wants to use it. I like [insert list of foods]. I don’t like [insert list of foods]. I am [insert height and weight] and [insert exercise and lifestyle details]. I shop at [insert grocery store]. I want to [insert health/fitness goal(s)]. Can you give me a groceries list and meal plan that optimizes for nutrition, taste, and cost, in that order, while minimizing cooking and cleanup time over the course of the entire week, to help me make meaningful progress towards my goal(s)?

How do you ensure it doesn’t make some kind of gross large scale error like the food pyramid grain servings was? It’s not that people could necessarily do better, but it seems like the ai could gloss over aggregated errors and be bad long term.

Think the smart fridges are attempting to bring this era. I’ve never used a nutrition app, and wonder how many folks are doing that at the moment. While I don’t like to focus on a single nutrient, I’ve wondered if weekly or monthly dives would be useful… Example - how many folks are getting daily calcium to match dietary needs? As a way to highlight deficiencies or excesses.

i think the local availability part is the most challenging part of this. much harder to find locally available sources for any given food item in most parts of the world... they dont have api's like walmart and target in the us to easily fetch and return stock. think at minimum you need some sort of curated set of websites for ais to search through for any given area. (could pay people to curate it based on how many times ai's or humans use/view)
