I'm going to say something that's true in crypto that i wish wasn't the case, and have been slow to admit Narrative market fit is more important than product market fit Maybe it won't be that way forever but it's been true for as long as i've been here

Short term, maybe. Long term, no. Narrative market fit may help you get distribution which can help you get product market fit. But once the narrative moves on you need to have something that works otherwise you die with the narrative.

Yes, this probably depends on time horizon. But i have to say the long term has proven much loooooooonger than i thought.

100% agree. Narratives are ephemeral. Only if the narrative has stickiness within a larger secular trend of a growing TAM, then it stays.

Narrative can be helpful to “pump” the token/val and use that to hire a kickass team to actually build a great product. Most teams fail to make this happen

it’s definitely not sustainable long-term… just ask all the VCs that got burned in 2021. nothing can effectively replace PMF, no matter how strong the narrative.
