More than anything, I truly despise people who take advantage of my willingness to help and exploit other aid workers in the war zone.

Here’s what I’m dealing with now: a British medic on the frontlines in Ukraine is trying to pull some sketchy medical supply schemes for his personal gain and exploit nonprofits and local volunteers on the ground.

His requests to @crystalhearts and several other orgs seemed so off, and luckily my intuition was screaming that something was not right. Over the past few days, I managed to get him investigated by his current superiors & his previous units with some extra help of my friends in Defense Intelligence. 

We’re now at the “fuck around and find out” and “play stupid games, win stupid prizes” stage of this drama.

This will likely go public, as he is someone volunteers, other medics and many in the military etc actually know of. 

While I appreciate that many incredible people from foreign countries volunteer on the frontlines, there are unfortunately also shady ones who, despite being on the frontlines and risking their lives, somehow still find time to exploit others’ goodwill for personal gain. 

I’m more than happy to put energy into uncovering their shenanigans and ensuring there are consequences—and maybe some instant karma heading their way.

It is. So many lies everywhere. It’s getting so hard to figure out who is actually not a scammer. And the worst part is, it’s people on the actual frontlines—it’s not some rando on the internet trying to scam. Recently, there was another story I learned about a medic who used all donations from people for online gambling. This is exactly why I always help with supplies, not funds. But it turns out there are people who are willing to request actual supplies from the orgs and then simply resell them for thousands of dollars instead of using them to save people.

A bit confused by this comment… so I’d assume may be my post wasn’t very clear. 

Life-saving medical supplies, provided to save lives and purchased by nonprofits and volunteers using donations from people all over the world, should be going where they are truly needed. 

Instead, he is collecting these supplies from numerous organizations to resell them and make thousands of dollars for himself, while the medics on his actual team, who genuinely need these supplies to save lives, are left with nothing and struggling to receive help. People will die because there is no supplies. So i don’t
think him being on the frontlines would actually excuse his scam that will costs people’s lives. 

And I’m confident that people donating to nonprofits and volunteers would wanna know that the funds went where they were needed and not into the pocket of some guy who is trying to pull a scam.

Yup! He re-emerged with emergency requests for his medical unit to several different nonprofits. The request seemed legit, his medical unit is real, and they are indeed in really horrible conditions on the frontlines, desperately needing medical supplies. But something about his wording just seemed off, and now, after the investigation, we know it was a scheme to get expensive medical supplies shipped directly to him so he could sell them and make money while his unit struggles to save people.

Oh, and now learned the true story of why he never went on that aid delivery drive (before, I could only assume the reasons) from the medics on his old team and he definitely lied about literally everything—none of what he said was real.

Is this the same guy who didn’t escort you on your supply delivery?
