some takeaways from talking with farcasters irl in /paris yesterday: - in total 11 people showed up (2 directly from the airport!), engaged users are motivated to connect irl - everyone looking for alpha (stated preference as joke, revealed preference seriously); a lot of degen, defi and clanker talk - from content creator pov, goal is audience growth, and warpcast/farcaster/web3 tools in general do not provide enough analytics atm to achieve this - my 3rd year hosting a meetup, first time hearing people express not 100% positive sentiment, mainly on concerns of user growth, lack of client diversity and difficulty for new accounts to break through

I think it is indeed very difficult for new accounts bc their casts are usually hidden. And many times people donโt spend the time with them. There should be some incentive for new accounts. Maybe a tab with casts posted only by new accounts?

Great idea, I was one of those users and while I joined FC in February last year, I started using it just two months ago when a friend introduced me to the community. I think new users need a lot of encouragement and very important for growth of the network

Yes, it takes time, patience and consistency to build a circle here. But with time, it starts to get easier. There are a lot of nice people around.

it's certainly a challenge and discoverability of users & content is important to grow any social network but i think it's also a two-way street as it seems many users think simply casting content should be enough to grow an audience here, which isn't the case on any other platform fwiw, i think your response is one of the better ways to grow here, find people that resonate with you and try to engage authentically with them to increase your distribution

For sure it requires an active presence. Talking to people and engaging with interesting ideas is the most effective (and pleasurable) way of meeting people and creating a circle. Channels are a good entry point. When I was new, I was lucky to have some active channels where people really engaged with each other (like words and power Monday). They werenโt about only sharing content but creating longer conversations.

Yes very true. Are those two channels still active? I am still a newbie, learning very slowly here. About content creation I have a feeling this should evolve somehow from attention grabs for as many eyes as possible within certain niche to journaling, documenting our unique realities without that burden of analytics because quality/originality suffers but then at the other hands audience is needed, so the question is how can we make AI work for us this way

I think those channels are way less active. Power Monday worked well when there was still the power badge. I got to know very nice people also on justbuild, running, poetry. By the way, do you know @katekornish ? She is also a classical musician and a wonderful person.
