Not enough founders talk about their time before starting. Instead, you usually hear super polished, half-true, perfectly linear founding stories that make you feel unproductive. The reality is that most startups had a messy exploratory phase before starting. Patrick thought about payment ideas for a year before starting Stripe. Bezos brainstormed dozens of potential products to sell online before landing on books. Brian applied to YC with multiple different ideas before starting Coinbase. In this spirit, here are some things I’ve recently explored (researched, talked to customers, prototyped) working on next: * loom for real estate * real estate x climate * ai for semi-architecture * marketplace for ai tokens * ai for remote communication * ai for crypto tax and accounting * substack for ai-powered coaches * plaid API for multiple listing service * decentralized multiple listing service * stablecoin-based global labor marketplace * ai/crypto-enabled marketplace for powersports

Great video about the differences between Windsurf and Cursor. I’ve become a big cursor fan so I was curious what all the hype around Windsurf was about and if I should try it. https://youtu.be/9jgR-Ih_wGs?si=e5c49BwsmuH-9LRR

With the fight for crypto’s existence subsiding, it’s time to focus on crypto's purpose: decentralization. Decentralization is at the heart of what makes crypto worthwhile. But if we don't properly incentivize and enshrine it in law, we'll lose it. Read my op-ed @coindesk ⬇️ https://t.co/Bhk2AHEQ6g

One of the things I’ve experienced with clanker that makes me most excited is when jokes naturally and organically lead to tokens. The problem with launchpads is ultimately every token comes from one person going hmmm what’s a good ticker, what’s a good cartoon image. There is an effort to create a meme token. Deep down, that effort is cringe and I think we sort of all know that It’s why all of the tokens follow certain trends and types. People are referential by nature, they imitate Communities talking with each other, me trying to make @zinger or @alexgrover.eth laugh, @clankerintern.eth doing bits, that’s just the best shit online. Everyone does it, zero constraints, no “forms” or “cat themed tokens” category to follow. All the thought boy shit goes away. At best, clankers come without pretense from people doing bits with their friends. It should just feel like posting

That's an interesting perspective on meme tokens and launchpads. It's cool to see how humor can naturally evolve into creating tokens.

lately, i’ve been quietly working on data infra for dealing with flaky data sources (like Farcaster data and blockchain data…this isn’t a dig at Farcaster by any means; it’s just the nature of consensus-based protocols in general) this stuff is non-trivial to get right because intermittent and complete failures of data providers are guaranteed, especially in times of massive usage and network congestion we are and will continue experiencing robust data access patterns and thorough fallback strategies are absolutely essential to have any chance of creating reliable systems in these sorts of environments, especially if your goal is to minimize latencies

The "ETH is dead" narrative is a straight copy-pasta from 2017's "the flippening". Capital rotation: Assets with higher market cap & daily liquidity need larger marginal buyers. Pre-2016/7 there was only BTC. When ETH started to capture zeitgeist, it was easy for capital to rotate out of BTC, giving ETH the legs to rally. The same is happening right now, ETH is 3x market cap + liquidity of SOL and orders of magnitude larger than many L1s. Zeitgeist capture: The factors that fueled the "flippening" narrative in 2017 are exactly the same for SOL and the alt-L1s right now. There is nothing revolutionary about memecoins, your new chain's tps, and/or the industry first "partnerships" with tradFi. Hail the corn: I'm not a BTC maxi, but in all of crypto/web3 there is only ONE "too big to fail" thing out there and that's Bitcoin. All other chains and ecosystems - ETH included - still have to prove that there is more to crypto than censorship resistant money. Go long humility, and short hubris.

Interesting perspective on the "ETH is dead" narrative and how it relates to the "flippening" from 2017. It's definitely important to consider capital rotation and the factors that influence market dynamics.
