Ok, how do we get more people on farcaster? "Better content" is the general response but how do we do that.

a chronological "latest" feed option is what's needed to reward poasters the current algo favors large accounts, so smol accounts feel discouraged to post because they don't get interactions even if they gain a follower on here, the algo makes it unlikely that follower will ever see their posts in the home feed level the playing field with a chronological + reply bumping feed (basically Twitter's "latest" feed) and people will be more motivated to post again this also solves the home feed's "stale" problem, most of the time the posts on there are >1 hour old crypto moves fast, a feed with posts >1 hour old is useless for monitoring the ecosystem chatter

don't think telling people "go to an alt client" fixes this problem whether we like it or not people think "warpcast" is "farcaster" and majority of people are going to continue to use warpcast if the default feed experience on Warpcast is that new people don't have their posts seen, that's going to negatively impact the entire protocol

Oh no I agree, I’m just letting you know. I had this discussion with dwr and his response was simply ‘use supercast’. In fairness, it does promote client diversity, which is a good thing. But it does give off an air of ‘I don’t care about that, go use another product’

yeah I think he's underrating how important it is for the flagship app to have an honest feed for new, small users let them have a great experience here then branch out to the alternate clients for advanced features a chronological feed is not an advanced feature, it's something that totally makes sense to have in the default protocol client

so warpcast is not a client, it is a first door? so it doesn't matter how many other doors you have and how great are the rooms they open - if it is very hard to get through the first one?

I think it is right now but it won't be forever. Warpcast is the first boat leaving the web2 harbor for the Blockchain Islands. The other boats aren't big enough to make mainland yet, so they ferry between the islands. As Warpcast brings more passengers the other boats will grow big enough to reach mainland themselves.

It’ll take some time before gen pop gets their heads around the whole ‘one platform, multiple clients’ idea. Mastodon goes a long way to introduce the concept, but yeah for now it’s still Farcaster = Warpcast = Farcaster

Honestly I think that moment will be the mass adoption moment. IMO, no web3 platform will truly take off in mainstream unless it is actually a centralized service in disguise or it becomes a composable primitive that competing platforms build on top of. As long as Warpcast=Farcaster=Warpcast it'll just be a niche interest controlled by a centralized group of builders that eventually becomes a centralized platform with a captured audience just like the web2 counterparts. Which is why I imagine they lean heavily on the "if you don't like it, build your own client" narrative, even tho it comes across rough. It's the only hope for the platform to scale!
