bullish. however, i predict AI-generated trip itineraries will be the next instagram geotags — features that overexpose a city’s hidden gems to be ruined by tourists. if that happens, local knowledge and unwritten secrets of a city will become even more valuable (and perhaps more protected) than they are today.

Bullish. Travel is a way to trade money for status across nearly all socio-economic levels. :)

Bearish. It's often one of the first things cut from household budgets when belt tightening is required.

I’m bearish on traditional destination travel. It’s been peaking for so many years that wanderlust IG shots, trip to Paris, etc are so common it’s a counter signal. The unanimous bullish comments are another sign. We’re also probably near a local peak of available vacation time and disposable income.

Bullish. Loyalty programs moving on chain to become interoperable allowing you to use your miles on more than just flights and vice versa. Ai is also a game changer. Example, Kayak using AI to help find the best proved flights.

Bullish on hyper-local, bearish on international except for the top 1% because consumer spending will likely go down as market crashes.

Bullish. In a sea of sameness and AI generated world of perfection, personally lived experiences will matter even more. Also potential for AI to shift some norms like 4-day workweeks which will normalize more frequent short trips as well.
