bullish. however, i predict AI-generated trip itineraries will be the next instagram geotags — features that overexpose a city’s hidden gems to be ruined by tourists. if that happens, local knowledge and unwritten secrets of a city will become even more valuable (and perhaps more protected) than they are today.

Already living this. City of ~400k with over 19M visitors per year. It’s a larger population in the greater metro, but none of the visitors go there. They are all squeezed into about 3-5 square miles. Stopped sharing our favorite local haunts broadly years ago.
