Friedberg hits the nail on the head here: "When you add this all up, there's over 120 million people in the US that are directly working for or getting paid by the federal government in the US. That is such a significant percentage of our economy. I don't wanna use the term socialism"

Two questions: 1) Why does he include the stat of 50%+ tax going to govt as evidence for people "working for the govt"? When this country was arguably more capitalist, we had top tax brackets of 50+% 2) Where do you think this all goes? Like does US GDP just continue to creep down due to the loss of productivity?

No idea how to fix this. Even if, as one of them suggested, we "freeze spending," spending will continue to go way up due to boomers aging into social security much faster than the workforce replacing them.
