The reason I’m thinking about this is this past weekend I was with a friend who held a gargantuan amount of Bitcoin in 2011. He had heard of FC but didn’t know what it was. He has a big following on other platforms so isn’t really incentivized to look for an alternative but that still seems like a fail. Everyone into crypto should know what FC is by now, and what problem it’s trying to solve.

We had the same initial vision -- protocol-based version of Twitter. Bluesky capitalized well on the correct growth axis (political affiliation) and chose a technology stack without baggage (cryptocurrency).

We need way more art and artists here. And musicians. And film buffs. There isn't enough discourse here around the things that actually spark joy in people's lives. Until we figure out how to channel that, it won't really grow

I'm not sure FC is for everyone, yet. I'm not even sure of its vision. From what I see, FC is a place to learn and experiment and use emerging tech to do what you're already doing in a way that benefits you more than it would have otherwise. Making a cast here creates value. I can cash out rewards made from socializing. Take a picture, put it on Rodeo. People mint. Money is made. Write an article. Draw a picture. Play a game. Make a prediction. Join a call. Create a community. Share a cast. Money is made. And FC brings all these things under one umbrella. Get on the app. Have fun with frens. Make a bit of money. At least more than I've made doing the same things on other socials.

one difference here, is you can gab. have real chats. long threads. bluesky isn't conversational as much as it is just a lot of posting, for me at least. same w/ twitter. nostr. mastodon.
