We’re planning to launch a new, optional “Pro” protocol subscription

1. At launch, subscribers will have a Pro badge on their profile

2. Subscription will be onchain and part of the protocol. 100% of the proceeds go to casters / developers in weekly rewards. This in addition to the existing $25K+ a week in rewards. 

3. Planning to add longer casts (10K characters) and up to 4 images per cast for pro subscribers (needs a protocol change). Additional features over time.

4. $120 a year / $10 a month 
Why are we doing this?

- The protocol needs to find long-term revenue source that can continue fund caster and developer rewards beyond any one company.  
- We originally thought storage fees could be that, but we’ve realized that storage fees should be essentialy free to help growth. 
- So we’re trying an opt-in pro subscription as another model

Why now?

- Figuring out a long-term revenue model that works will allow us to double down on investing in growth

What do you all think would make the pro subscription more fun?

Different badges, exclusive NFT mints, special offers?  What else?

If they made gif pfps for pro, it would sell like hot cakes 😂. You said different so here are mine:

- Support for organizations/guilds via Icebreaker or Hats.
- Mood status or what I’m listening to music integration
- More ephemeral content like stories, message board
- Special offers to web3 tools (tax software etc)

Allowing pro users to submit or vote for a new like button would be fun

Partnerships with other apps/mini apps could be “easily” integrated since pro is at a smart contract level. 

At the client level, I’d like to see custom like buttons more widely available — a pro user gets a designated $tag, for instance. 

Pro channels are a possibility I haven’t seen discussed much. Yes, we already pay for those, but additional features could be cool.

Three ideas that I have rn are implementation of NFTs - would love to see more, to be able to collect more from the feed ( NFTs from creators and also from FC that may give you access to extra perks )

Token-gated content - it would be cool to bond this with NFTs - I collect and NFT from you and that NFT gives me acces to your token-gated content 

Embedding music - Whenever a song is shared here it would be cool to be able to play it from within the app directly - to be shown within the app 🌹

Higher ranking comments feels too much like pay to play in terms of visibility/boosting which I don't think is good

Algo boosting for pro users creates bifurcation that could be really bad for growth so I'm pretty strongly against that

higher ranking comments, algo boosts more profile customization. The longer posts don't feel that valuable to me personally but the badging is interesting

When the standard experience is a chore you have to subsidize, thinking about a ‘pro’ version probably isn’t the most fortunate direction.

I think the standard should be building a product so good your customers AREN’T begging you for a token.  

They just want the product because it solves a painpoint that well.
