best weekend trips in California? my sleeper pick is Los Alamos (my favorite restaurant there got a michelin star recently!) and love Big Sur but looking for some lowkey (and ideally affordable) other options

Idk if it’s affordable, but Santa Barbara is my happy place. Food is amazing (La Super-Rica for 🌮) and a drink at the Rosewood is 💯

Are you looking for geo-specific? ie central coast? Give me a region and I’ll give you options.

sea ranch is a fun place to visit - master planned community from the 1960s with lots of unique architecture and trails to beaches, redwoods, and its own seashell shaped cathedral spent a weekend in a beautiful cabin on a cliff a few years ago and was very inspiring / chill

if you like nature would highly recommend Eastern Sierras (specifically around Mammoth Lakes). Fall colors are prime right now! Del Mar also a very nice beach town near SD https://i.imgur.com/FuAnO7E.jpg

You should checkout Prewitt Ridge it's this little known free camping area 1h30 south of Big Sur. With the most amazing sunset that overlooks the ocean. https://i.imgur.com/tq7xWIU.jpg

If you're looking for low-key skiing (with almost no crowds) check out Bear Valley. Much more chill than Tahoe, and great xc skiing (if you're into that!), plus cool retro ski vibes!
