There have been several attempts at making custom feeds a thing in the FC ecosystem. One challenge is that most people just want a sensible default and don't want to tinker with settings. Another challenge is that you'd need to build a full app to be able to test out your feeds. I think there is room to build an extension of FC to support custom feeds in a decentralized way. Other apps could use it but maybe they could be "integrated" with Warpcast via mini apps and discoverable via Explore. If there is demand from both devs and users for this and it gets traction. I'm sure we can figure out how to help distribute through Warpcast. Likely as mini-apps initially. (just thinking out loud, no promises 😅)

pressing on a channel, profile or searching is choosing a custom feed, and users do that daily. I agree the interface for custom feeds is not a setting somewhere hidden, as these settings have no distribution. But giving users more control and choice is a good thing, and a strong counter position to web2. Feeds should be discoverable organically and first class citizens

One of the first mini apps I started was a reverse chron feed, derailed into building a web client than a mobile client 😂

Would love to surface more custom feed types and feed providers within @blockhead’s Farcaster interface like I did earlier this year with @openrank @neynar @pinata @airstack.eth!

I believe $degen could be used in small units to act as a currency to generate a better feed. You like something you pay to have more of it. Increasing the incentive for a daily allowance.

"One challenge is that most people just want a sensible default and don't want to tinker with settings." I reckon there's a big assumption hidden in here. Custom feeds can be first-class citizens, as opposed to a setting. The phrasing is important though. If you remember back in Spring, our Nouns x Farcaster prop had exactly this.

i don't think there's enough quality content to necessitate sophisticated feeds
