Training log, no-gi. Drilled some standup and focused on a bunch of takedowns from a body-lock/hold and then progressed to some subs and passes from half-guard. Sparring consisted of 6 x 10 minute rounds, much of which I spent suffocating in and trying to extract myself from various head-arm holds/subs/pressure.

10 minute rounds sound vile. Good work brother. Need to do some more no gi myself.

Nah, 10 mins are a nice entry point for a deeper flow state πŸ™ƒ if they were competition intensity they’d be closer to vile though!

This is true. I've been out of action all week cos my training partner went for the cartwheel guard pass, put all their weight on my shoulder and it clicked 5 times like when you pull the hand brake. Lovely

Sad face. We worked a headstand turtle escape and I couldn't nail the execution without rolling my torso and bodyweight across my partner's jaw πŸ™ƒ I tend not to try flashy things unless I'm really confident I can pull 'em off (which is usually never the case!).

First session was in 2012. 1 year or so 2/3x per week, a couple intermittent years, mid-2010s managed a year and a bit of 2/3 per week, more inconsistency, got back into it late 2019, COVID-inspired absence till Sept 2023 and now back to 2ish times per week :D
