I would much rather receive a calendly than do the back and forth or even send my calendly. Sending gives you less control - they can pick whenever on your calendar. Receiving you have full control.

depends on who you’re talking with, most business folks are real short on time with 5-15 meetings a day lol if you’re calling your friend you can jump right in whenever someone pings

I started doing this when someone messages me (especially instant messenger) and wants to hop on a call: how about now or in 5-10? so much easier to just take a call if both of you are already online and talking to each other. Kinda hate chatting to someone and then having to wait until next day/week just to VC. calendly killed spontaneity.

I'm with you, feels cold and transactional like they don't value making the effort to dedicate time but rather I have to fit into their unused time.

my brother sent me a google meet invite once because we kept missing each other on text and couldn’t figure out a time to talk 💀 was i offended? yes. do i understand why that was the only way i could get @manan to talk to me in a non-emergency emergency? also yes.

I initially thought you had friends in your life sending you calendly invites and I was like “yeah that’s crazy” but reading through the comments it sounds like these are people who want to connect on some professional level? In that case I don’t see a huge issue with it.

I feel like this might be a generational thing. I go back and forth about it in my head. I think where I end up is that it's more efficient and it's annoying AF to go back and forth with someone, especially over email, trying to schedule a meeting or catch-up or whatever.

This seems super polarizing (it should be one of those ponder polls!) but I love a link so I can choose a time and not waste our time emailing.

I feel like on a scale of “closeness” to someone, if you are not close they will send a calendly. And if they are then they will do the back and forth with you
