how come it's easier to focus if i drink coffee on an empty stomach, eating anything more than a granola bar in the morning can make me lose focus, anyone else?

when you're hungry your brain sharpens up. there are two classes of explanation: 1) biologically: a full stomach shunts blood to help with digestion 2) evolutionarily: when you're hungry it's a signal to your brain to sharpen up and find food. you can harnass that

CARBS... try protein instead. Eggs are ideal. Or fast if your stomach can handle it.

Have you ever had your DNA sequenced (alla 23me type thing?) you can see how you metabolize caffeine and it may explain why it hits harder on an empty stomach.

Skipping breakfast (ie intermittent fasting) + black coffee (usually cold brew) works quite well focus wise for me in the morning. The coffee is less effective if I break the fast.

Iโ€™ve found that fasting (w just coffee) up to 24 hours is great for focus.

Usually a result of the carbohydrates spiking glucose and glycogen levels then crashing shortly after. High protein or fruit breakfasts are much better
