My first thought is that “knowing what to ignore requires you to be aware of what you’re ignoring.” Which makes me feel like you and PG are saying mostly the same thing.

Makes sense. Mastering selection is all about radical focus and ignoring the noise (i.e. you, USV, other T1s) vs. increasing shots on goal & pray/spray models that do have high quality dealflow (i.e. YC). Both can be right and wrong depending on who's doing it imo...

I bet it's more likely that you have differing things that you ignore. examples: For earlier stages, don't ignore unstoppable founders. Ignore others. For later stages, don't ignore traction, PMF, and market pull. Ignore others.
