Gardening by far is the most expensive hobby I ever taken up. That being said I’m having the most fun being outside despite this summers heat. It’s truly incredible to see the resilience of the different plants growing in 100+ Fahrenheit temps. 

Passion fruit is recovering and was in our “plant ICU” for a few days. But it’s bouncing back.

Thanks Lex! It’s been a lovely experience. Our long term goal is to have a “food forest” and not hit the grocery stores as often. Can’t wait until everything comes together in another year or so.

Once you make the initial investment and begin to reuse equipment, seeds, etc.  the cost begins to decrease. If you can produce enough to have a steady supply,  it could begin to save you money. 
There is something incredible about growing your own food.

Oh that’s so relatable! 😅
But you are absolutely right. The fruits and veggies are way more flavorful. And there’s a wonderful feeling when I need something, I could just go to the back and snip from the garden. It’s only our first year getting into this but we want to make it long term and have a mini food forest out of our home. 

Goal is to cut down as many trips as possible to the grocery market.

There’s a gardening meme that goes something like: spent $500 on dirt, seeds, and water for 2 tomatoes. At face value it’s expensive, but there’s so much unseen value to gardening in addition to more nutritious and flavorful food. Connecting with nature and learning self-sufficiency is priceless.

Don’t panic Arfy but I uhhhhh forgot to feed it during the beginning of fruiting for like 3 months and….the soil hasn’t been amended for well over a year and a half 🤡

I may or may not have forgotten about it. BUT! I made my amends and put the plant in a spot that I can see everyday now. Full undivided attention 😂

Great to hear that it sounds like you're enjoying your new (expensive) hobby! Though the initial landscaping/setup costs are higher, once things start going you won't need to keep spending that much year on year.

Glad to see the aubergine doing well, and the passion fruit out of ICU! What happened to it?
