Yeah and also, automated political opinion creates an illusion of collective action, while isolating people through media technology... Dunno... It's complicated 🫠

So true. I very much recommend the book "When we cease to understand the world" which is about brilliant scientists (Heisenberg, Grothendieck etc) glancing the "truth". Each of these scientists pushes beyond the known world, and what they find there drives them mad, to some degree or another. Great read.

The essay examines post-growth as a challenge to endless economic expansion, proposing a future where success is defined by quality of life. Using visioning and back-casting, it suggests paths that emphasize sustainability and balance over constant growth. https://shorturl.at/gQXt5

To me they're not really comparable. The promise of AI is, like you observed, already fulfilled, transforming life and work, with its integration assumed. With blockchain it's like its use cases are secrets waiting to be discovered. Much like mining ...

Yeah, I find it difficult to intercept myself, it's almost always hindsight. But it serves for something I guess! Actually just found this in another cast. "The G. I. Joe fallacy refers to the misguided notion that knowing about a bias is enough to overcome it (Santos & Gendler, 2014)." 🤣

How do you put yourself in a state where you are aware of which bias is potentially in play?

Isn't the moral of the story: don't build a product the relies on a douchey distribution method?

Explore two future scenarios of New York in 2075 based on Earth4All’s data, where the city balances serving people and the planet. In the Giant Leap scenario, NYC harnesses energy, innovation, and optimism to become a model of urban climate resilience. https://earth4all.life/onceuponafuture/
