At the moment it's not clear that reducing the retaliatory tariffs would cause ours to drop. It also turns into a game of chicken where they're trying to inflict maximum economic damage in hopes of getting a new admin in 4 years. The conservative party in CA is already signaling commitment to fighting fire with fire.
