Given the momentum behind EVM L2s, what’s the best argument you’ve seen for why a non-EVM chain or ecosystem will be able to attract developers?

Some developers (like enterprise and government) may prefer non-Ethereum L1s because of the lack of regulatory clarity around Ethereum. If you’re not using Ethereum for settlement and don’t need to optimize for network effects, then it seems like non-EVM solutions would allow for more cutting edge tech/languages.

The EVM is the only thing that matters.

Since day 0 I've been on the multichain camp so I only found the Ethereum and Cosmos space interesting. I was so hooked on the EVM world that I never got around to diving deep into Cosmos though.

Ease of development and onboarding. NEAR Protocol was a favorite of mine for this reason, and has a super active dev and artist community. Unfortunately for me, that community is entirely in Asia

No smart contracts, just local exec + confidentiality properties of the protocol

Think the only real contenders are Solana and Cosmos. S because they coordinate well, and C because apps may have a better incentive to manage their own chains rather than build an app and contribute to a protocol (less risk for an app to be deployed on a dedicated chain, see DYDX)
