Hide doesn’t need to scale. It is useful as a manual tool when auto mod tools don’t work as expected

Hide is really useful, but doesn't work if you are building a decentralized version of channels.

Every spam cast would now require a second message to hide it. Bloats storage on the network.

Further, you can economically attack a channel by posting programmatically, requiring the owner to use up hide actions and then have to pay for more storage.

Has it been written somewhere why it can’t decentralise?

I don’t see why each cast can’t have a Hidden In Channel boolean in the meta data (not familiar with how the protocol works)

yes! hiding needs to happen at layers/services above the protocol.

Not everything needs to be decentralized. It's sufficient that some things are open sourced - as (some) algos should be on the client level

why doesn't it work? can't it be a "hint" for clients which helps them to decide whether to show the cast in the feed?
