If you’re building a consumer app, the best chance at retention is: 1. mobile app 2. Push notifications 3. Email notifications Can’t think of a recent successful consumer app that didn’t have this. Best I can come up with is MetaMask, Uniswap and OpenSea. But less consumer and more financial (ie whale heavy).

Financial app = whale heavy, 95% of revenue from top 5% of users Also applied to games. Consumer app = DAUs monetize are roughly the same rate, more about scale in wealthier regions like the US cf. Facebook ARPU per region and Snap shutting down Zenly

Who checks emails these days? I hate email notifications. I don’t have push notifications for mobile either. I come to farcaster whenever I feel like it. On average once or twice a day.

fwiw to add to this our data tells us consumer apps notice 69% open rate (email and push) vs 45% average and CTR of 29% vs 7% average if the message is related to collectibles (onchain, but not saying onchain). Crazy retention drivers. Mostly sports related apps, over span of last 6 months.
