What's the de facto process for token ticker symbols these days? i.e. how do prevent collisions? How does it work across Ethereum vs. Solana? Is CoinGecko the loose consensus canonical source of truth?

Happens by volume and liquidity of the pools for that token. So happens onchain!

Tons of collisions people check market cap and liquidity on things like coingecko or dexscreener- market decided what’s “real” !

i asked this a few years ago and @mikedemarais.eth answered – he said tokens can have the same ticker but one will win by becoming the most popular (ie by consensus) (i had asked this when 2 duck tokens launched around the same time)  – i guess if there's a clash just always post the contract address for ppl
