Wild to think there was a period of time in the early 2010s when Dropbox was top 2 "it" startup in San Francisco along with Airbnb. Also wild that Microsoft reportedly offered some insane acquisition offer that is multiples of today's market cap and they declined. Contrast to Slack who was fortunate enough to take the Salesforce deal before Teams completely steamrolled.

They grew with the cloud storage market cohort (Box, Sharefile), none of them figured out the second product except Google.

Methinks we will look back at certain eras of crypto with great fondness like SV-backed 2010s companies. Maybe just DAOs.

Interestingly, opportunities in file storage are starting to open. Nearly 20 years has passed and their cohort is still the same fundamental product with too many features.

I haven't used dropbox in a solid decade. They let google drive eat their lunch.
