Great idea Dan. Hoping that I don’t touch a nerve lol. Can you expand on your hesitancy to add video for all users? Previously you have said: - It doesn’t do well on the platform - it presented legal liability issues My position is that the reason it hasn’t performed well up until now on the platform is because it is effectively gated from new users. If a video creator from Tik Tok or IG shows up today, they will quickly realize this isn’t the place for them; because they can’t share videos. Preventing videos for all hinders platform growth more than you might think. We’re trying to recruit a wide scale audience. It’s 2024, people use video for everything. Think; breaking news, funny memes, etc. So to clarify my question, can you expand on the thought process behind restricting videos to already established users?

Lots of people seem to think Frames are really the bread and butter of the current platform, but Channels offer the greatest future potential for differentiation and scale. Would be curious to hear about thoughts on what Channels can become in the future …

Have you considered funding teams building on Farcaster? We always hear “opportunity for another client” but the reality seems to be that it’s a big effort to build one Obviously it opens up another can of worms with your time / focus but given the funds at your disposal, do you think it’s worth exploring a“lightweight” way of doing it?

I know you are happy to have a small team, and don’t engage in marketing until your product is at its A game, yet… Have you ever thought about a classic “crypto” intern whose role would be to market FC by reposting great content here on other platforms and engaging in classic shitcasting, memes and such, guerrilla marketing style? And why might this be a waste of resources or not the right time? By the way - think the call to action on FC sherpas is great.

As you grow the Farcaster user base, are you optimizing for getting people to post original content here first, or just any and all engaging content? How will you ensure Farcaster doesn’t just become another generic dumping ground for re-uploaded TikToks now that incentives are in place?

Focusing on Ethereum builders got FC through '22/'23. After providing a happy home for those many builders, the Frames launch led to FC's step function growth in early 2024. FC's super power is being permissionless for builders. Anything you can dream of building on X/App Store/etc...can be built here without gatekeepers. Why not double down on that and launch mini-apps? 🙂

Can we gain followers from other Farcaster clients and have that translate to the protocol and over to Warpcast? Or is it essentially a one way street where our Farcaster social graph is created on Warpcast but can then be extracted and used on other clients of Farcaster?

do you see blocks becoming part of the protocol in the future? if so, do you think hubs should enforce them? e.g. a reply to a post by an fid that has blocked you would be an invalid message

Second question. I’m an “older user” (45) How do you reconcile a potential future where younger generations are so video and audio focused with a “text” dominant platform. And how has the roll out of apple vision pro, spatial compute/AR influenced the team’s thoughts around the evolution of Farcaster?
