I think the way that telegram opens mini apps on a bottom sheet modal instead of a full screen makes them feel more native and less like a completely separate app

Mini-apps with crypto stakes and using a social graph (TG, FC, etc) are an emerging category of online entertainment. Daily games, tap games, games integrated into live streams, betting, etc. FC has all the pieces with identity/auth/social and crypto ready users. Frames vs. Casts Actions vs. Composer Actions is getting confusing. These should all be "apps" that are just referenced via a link to a PWA. Renders an app with user context (similar to Frames) and allows easy submission of txs. And social + multiplayer by default. Use cases: * Basic crypto actions: swap, mint, tip, stake * Games: single player, multiplayer, etc * Comms: video chat, AI companion apps, check sports scores, etc

https://warpcast.com/samuellhuber.eth/0xe5475136 deep link to mini app from a frame. Why? - no need to bring them in feed. Frame does that. No more overhead besides deep link on the Merkle side - allows viral loops and mini apps to trigger casts -> embedded frame -> back to mini app flows - allows cast actions to spawn frames that then launch into full blown apps and have the context be server side so mini app can resume from that cast context

i like the idea of mini-apps as a retention tool, but i hope they stay separate from frames frames are - design constrained (good for creativity) - easily composable (good for distribution) - already used by devs (good for dev experience) mini apps could be - reached via frame button or composer action - used when frames can't/shouldn't be - a retention tool for any/all clients here's the optimal UX i see 1. trigger + interact with composer action 2. generate frame (if simple) or mini-app (if complex) 3. proceed with use case of frame or mini-app note: - i don’t see mini apps being sharable / usable in feed; feels weird - the less feature rich the in-feed component, the more i'd use it (ie. "just click") - the more feature rich the in-feed component, the less i'd use it (ie. "just make a native app")

If simple action will allow besides frames also iframes like composer action does, then you can make any kind of mini app possible.

Checkout https://t.me/gungamehelperbot I’ve played it, of course be careful. But it’s a simple chat with a roulette game. Obviously very casino esque. But maybe some learnings from it.

Would it be part of the feed or the users have to go to the discover tab to play the game? I'm debating if people would go to a separate page or separate app. If users prefer to stay in the app, I'd build a full checkout.

would be cool to have all the GamePigeon iMessage games as async multiplayer mini apps challenge other casters to pool, word games, etc. and get notification when other person finishes / who wins https://gamepigeonapp.com/

Could you also post the definition of mini-apps? --- I'm prototyping a bunch of stuff for /sands-of-sumaii and it will have - Frames - Channel-specific gameplay - dedicated website w/farcaster login (does that make it a client yet?) I think at this point there's so many different things I'm starting to get confused :P But seriously love all the experiments and new legos I really think I could have a quasi mmorpg going in a year or something

Not sure what the boundary of "mini-apps" is, but I had an idea the other day: Could we use frames as a poor man's login-with-farcaster on desktop? Particularly if we could dm (private) frames, then a website could send a login challenge as a frame (hard-to-guess url), you'd have to click a button, website gets authenticated message from account. Might be able to do this without DMs/hard-to-guess urls too?
