Transcript Work life balance. The short answer is there is no work life balance. If you're running an early stage startup with a family the longer answer is you just have to prioritize what you wanna spend time with. So in my case, I do three, four, or five things. So the following things. First thing is I work. Second thing is I spend time with my kids. Third thing is eat, sleep, and then occasionally I work out. I literally don't do anything else. I like my whole world is those five things. And yeah, occasionally might have one social thing here or there, but there is no weekly social calendar thinking about like hobbies or any of that other kind of stuff. It's really focused in on work and family, and it's a face, right? Like I, I don't think this will be always like this. And I knew what I was signing up for. I'd been early at Coinbase, not a founder, but. Knew what an intense startup would be, and it's a choice, right? Not everyone has to do it, and that's fine.

No personal time to just breathe or hang out with friends or even trips? How would you make peace with what you’re not doing rn?

I think one of the super powers of older founders (ie older then 20's) is understanding that its about prioritizing things to do and understanding the things you are choosing not to do.

As an early stage startup founder with a couple of very young kids of my own, I feel this to my core I'm pretty much just working, with my kids, or eating/sleeping. Most of my casts after 6pm ET (when my kids get out of childcare) make no sense because I'm normally casting and watching/playing with them. Then they go to bed, and I go back to work. And then sleep. Rinse and repeat. Even relatively mundane things like getting a haircut have to be kind of planned and coordinated, haha It doesn't bother me...thankful for what I do have (family, roof, food)

It's a choice. That's the thing that stood out to me in this one. I think people should realise that more. It's a choice, and it's not for everyone.
