for those with friends affected by the LA fires: they're not okay. they're not holding up well. don't text them questions that make them explain their trauma. instead, just send love and offer concrete help: 'I can watch the kids' or 'I'm dropping off dinner tomorrow'

The kids need so much extra help after these events. Just seeing their parents rightfully scared leaves a huge impression on kids. School busses will have to drive by this destruction for months and will be a painful reminder. Make sure to seek out extra mental health services for your young ones! After the Thomas Fire so many were affected at our school that they offered an after school program for those of us displaced or who lost homes. It helped my kids a lot.

I think people should still check in. It matters to a lot. You can only do so much for thousands of miles away

well said, “empty” questions can make ppl feel guilty about not replying, concrete help or just saying you care about them is really thoughtful outreach 🫶🏻
