There was a scientific study on decision making trying to understand why people enjoy certain art pieces. People could pick a picture. Some had to explain why they picked it. Those who had to *reason* why they picked that picture, were less satisfied about their choice than those who were not asked to explain themselves.

Good humour requires context knowledge. LLM are like fancy machines predicting which words should be in the same sentence.

agree coming up with original humor is quite difficult. 

i think understanding humor is more difficult than creating it.

humor depends on context a lot. it is a lot of body language and the tone in which it’s said. in the text form, it’s pretty hard to get unless you know the person?

llms take everything at face value right now. so we will have to see how it works out.

tbh i think we crack this with brute force and just compressing more reasoning loops

but i think coming up with original humor vs exhibiting humorous tendencies (sarcasm) is much harder

coming up with a good joke is something most humans can't even do
