pretty interesting to see normies looking for alternatives to meta’s social apps and maybe even starting to grasp the value of decentralization…

yet somehow still hating crypto enough to sidestep FC/lens entirely in favour of apps like bluesky. I wonder if there’s any way to welcome these types of users or whether their left/right bias is too strong to remain open-minded.

PSA: I joined the Ethereum Foundation Leadership Team last week.

I joined the EF Research team in mid-2017, starting by contributing to the early sharding proof-of-concept. Over the years, my focus has been on L1 R&D, and that will remain my core area defense. I'm also passionate about Ethereum community building and enjoy bridging core research with the broader community.

The new @ethereumfndn handle is the beginning of the EF establishing more transparent communication channels. I’m excited to collaborate more closely with Aya Miyaguchi @ayamiya, Josh Stark @js, and Bastian Aue, and to dedicate myself to contributing to EF Leadership. My specific remit within EF Leadership hasn’t been defined yet, but as my role becomes clearer, I’ll share more details about my responsibilities.

The Brutalist (2024) is an instant masterpiece. 

To reduce it to themes here would be a disservice.

I'll offer a brief reflection instead. Have you ever wondered how great artists see the world?  Do you sometimes find yourself drawn to certain museums – not necessarily because of their contents, but because you have a longing to be in some space that was created – its light, proportions, materials? What does one ever *do* with one's great suffering?

As I left the show, somehow seeing sunny New York in a more cinematic frame, I overheard more than a couple people who seemed to greatly dislike the film. I found their reasons too trivial to be repeated, and for a split second I cared.

But there was a kind of jubilation in realizing something that has been dawning on me – that an artist's work being *hated* by some is among the signs that we have something great on our hands.  There's something like a Contrarian's Paradox in art, too, and it is a pleasure to embrace it.

Haven't seen it yet but based on the soundtrack I'm very very excited
