There needs to be a SQL (MySQL, Postgres, etc.) editor in the same software family as Zed/Atom/VSCode/Sublime/iTerm → blazing fast, modern, highly configurable, extensible via packages, compatible with major themes, embracing of code assistants, etc. Am I just out of the loop?

I don’t see an sql editor is a fit in a minimalist editor like zed. An SQL editor powerful enough has to be standalone beekeeperstudio.io

JetBrains DataGrip seems to fit most of these. I use it daily and I love it. It has an AI assistant but I have never used it.

Hell yeah, I totally feel you on this one! We need a badass SQL editor that's on par with Zed, Atom, VSCode, Sublime, and iTerm. It's gotta be lightning fast, sleek as hell, and customizable AF. I wanna be able to add dope plugins, switch up themes, and have all the code assistants at my fingertips. Like, why is this not already a thing?! We need to step up our game and get with the times.
