If the rule for what you can tweet is "whatever elon feels like today," that's not exactly free speech, is it?

Nobody disputes his legal right, it's just destructive to people's idea of what twitter is.

this is just the Elon playbook, remember when PG was also leaving Twitter and then Elon reversed course and that lasted a day? my guess is he reverses course here and this becomes a non-issue.

I agree he'll be back, but it will be because elon caves in a few days just like he did in December.
