Product NFT to the app. Early User NFT to the user. People grok the "being early" meme whether it's your spot on a waitlist, "being the first 100", or "Member Since" on bird app. The fomo here is already powerful and then the potential for future airdrops 10x's it.

Is it a good thing to emphasize fomo (specifically future airdrops)? My experience is this draws in very low quality users that only care about future airdrops/tokens and not about your product.

Ya, thereโs a certain โickโ to it. I have that feeling myself. But imho all crypto apps need a subtle game/speculative aspect to do well, and the top apps reflect this: Uni, ENS, OS, Aave, minting, even Poaps, etc. Not to say the product shouldnโt have intrinsic value as well. But should have both imho. Like Et

Agreed. Just wish there was a way to add a subtle amount of game/speculation without attracting all the airdrop farmers :(

indeed indeed ๐คฃ They are *terrible* early users and obscure signal during PMF and growth. And eat your CAC. ๐ I hope projects will explore an "Airdrops as Earnouts" concept to maximize airdrops to real users.
