I have now started reading 4 different paragraph posts in the past 24 hours and every single time that subscribe with your email pop up shows up I drop off and never finish reading the article

Is anyone tracking how these popups are leading to less engagement with content on paragraph?

I looked at the numbers right now and they aren't driving a meaningful level of subscriptions so I just disabled it by default for new users

I am reluctant to eliminate the feature entirely since for some creators it has driven a large number of subs

I can add a toggle from the reader perspective to disable?

actually - how about, if someone dismisses a single subscribe popup, we don't show them again?

I now have the muscle memory to immediately dismiss it as soon as it starts rendering (not fully visible yet).

It's fine to add a less intrusive call to action.
Either a pop up (with a self dismiss timer) that doesn't block the reading or maybe inserting the cta in the article.
