Network States

Today we have nation states.
Tomorrow we will have network states.

The transition will not be people migrating physically first. But digitally first. They will choose a dual citizenship (nation/network), physically being aligned with the nation and digitally with the network.

It will be very controversial.

Winners:
- networks obviously
- more autonomous city states / small countries that embrace the network, think Dubai, Singapore, Salvador etc. ; can also be cities in the US, Miami and Austin come to mind

Loosers:
- Large nations states, especially with high deficit
- Countries that do not embrace change in general

Some will raise their voice, others protest in silence. Will be very difficult for nation states without centralized choke points.

I can only imagine people publicly denouncing their state of residence for their chosen network.  

Will be interesting to see how nations states deal with it.

I think digital infrastructure and decentralized basic public services like identity, basic financial services, education, healthcare will be high on the list. 

There is also some overlap with how one can think about power in decentralized systems
