Moving to LATAM has been one of the most transformational experiences in my life. Especially to a developing nation. Maybe second to becoming a father.  

My perspective is so much wider. I see actual struggle. I understand the power and privilege of Capitalism and the United States. 

My views and opinions are unrecognizable from that NY kid.

I don't miss it but I appreciate it so much more. The zeitgeist is pretty broken because people don't appreciate it. I don't miss that but realize Capitalism, Democracy and Free Speech is worth fighting for. 

If I thought I was never moving back I might miss it but have plans to return in '26.

hmm in abstract maybe but in my specific case I think its the opposite as I realize unchained capitalism is the best way to solve most of the world's problems. 

But if you think of compassion, like the Hondurans do, where everyone gets paid 15 months out of the year, that most definitely hinders economic growth for everyone in their society. Fewer business can afford to even get off the ground, wages are suppressed, someone's compassionate idea was a terrible one.

I don’t. I’ve done a terrible job of documenting my time. Part because I’m just in it, living it, experiencing and processing all and part because I worry about ramifications for my family because of the lack of due process, rule of law and free press.

I'm happy we have amazing builders and creators such as yourself, born in the privilege of a country like the US (even if it's a country that has very intentionally kept us stripped from those privileges), that are willing to expand their POVs

I just hope the new Nouns DAO legal structure won't gatekeep opportunities for people in our latitudes (I read citizens in Venezuela wouldn't be able to receive grants from the DAO anymore?)

what are some of the struggles you've been noticing? any that surprised you?

The US has it flaws for sure, but it also has some great oppurtunity that you can't find anywhere else. I've been very lucky to spend a lot of time outside of the US and live in VERY different parts of the US and all of it broadened my perspective in a way I don't think you can get any other way. I'm glad you've gotten to move away and see a new POV. I wish everyone gets to have this shift in their perspective and have a similar transformation.
