cb.id issued over 4M subnames through ENS dapp. And will probably do the same at some point for their Base chain with .base.eth Decentraland did the same with dcl.eth for their game users Decentralized no-code website builders are using them to add content hash record for website + .limo to resolve in browsers Etc.

The largest user base is on enterprise/government side. Attended the Internet Identity Workshop (focused on decentralized identity infra) last fall and the perspective was a top down approach would actually drive adoption as the infra must be in place to enable use of these identifiers Top down v bottom up in crypto
