This. This is why I've said this so many times, in so many ways. Public ledgers are a mistake. They are the single greatest failing in crypto, and privacy should never be an opt in. Bring billions on chain? Attest to everything about your life, your location? https://twitter.com/TheCryptoCPA/status/1781403340045197813

What is a free society today can change tomorrow. Women's health data collected by applications were demanded by state AGs to pursue women for cross-state travel for abortions. Your conversations, your associations, your events, all metadata, that has been used by a government who has admitted it is used to kill people

💯 But, it’s also true that if nobody can see the bags, there would have been no FOMO and this entire crypto space would probably have never grown legs.⚖️☯️

I wish we didn’t have to off board to pay bills with fiat. It would be impossible for (them) to have control over things like this.

It seems like the above is the same thing that has been happening since gov existed as a concept, just with extra steps But deeper opsec can be optionally practiced on-chain - choice was not possible prior - "either provide us your info or no service" is not as much of a thing here. Interested in what you think

I agree. It’s such a complex issue. But my tl;dr has always been that crypto failed because it didn’t replace fiat (which is defined as currency you can use to pay your tax obligations). If it replaced fiat, then fiat/crypto bridges would have nothing to report. So, it failed. Let the work continue.

On a more serious note I think options are good. Options to join, options to leave. It's what makes connection and interaction special. It's why tribes matter. And it's why I'm glad quil is a thing, no matter which tech stack is right for who, only one exit out of antiquated systems is not enough. Go off cass. Lfg

how is this a failing of crypto? it's a failing of the legacy, tyrannical system that it resorts to these measures this just makes it more obvious that the people that think "regulated" crypto will live alongside the state as it exists today are delusional either crypto wins or it dies by these insane regulations

This wouldn't be as big of an issue if we didn't have to off-ramp from crypto. That's where the identification happens.
