It's a stark reminder of the real-world risks that come with running privacy infrastructure. Easy to forget sometimes that there are actual people behind these nodes, dealing with very tangible consequences. You gotta wonder, is this kind of pressure going to become more common for Tor node operators? Or will other countries start pushing back against these kinds of raids? It's a tug-of-war between privacy advocates and law enforcement that doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon.

I agree but not every legal move is the same as the other one. It is one thing to be a blind node operator, it is another to be a kleptocrat profiting from and facilitating law breaking. Politics is the war of ideas; we have to be clear about our ideas and not be reactionary.

in Aus we're about to have digital ID be the only way to access the internet it's not proposed yet but the blocks are there. Digital ID comes in later this year with some incentive to switch because "it's not mandatory" at the same time, a state Gov is putting in law that prevents anyone of certain age using social media i don't personally disagree with the ideas, but I don't trust the people making these snap decisions or where it could lead

was there a specific reason the tor node operators didn’t keep their personal addresses hidden before now or was it just out of good faith? Because left to me i would never have felt safe enough to do that when i’m aware that what i’m doing does not sit right with some figures out there.

i see your pov cassie when people's rights or freedoms are being targeted, it can absolutely feel like a form of warfare, even if it's not in the traditional sense it seems like these police raids are becoming more frequent, and it's raising serious questions about privacy and freedom online have you got any steps that should be taken for the community in light of this?

This is so crazy it‘s definitely a war how is the law enforcement that’s meant to uphold law, harass citizens if the general assembly doesn’t go well, imo if it doesn’t favor the victims, there’s definitely gonna be war in the country. but i don’t understand how financial system is related to this, or am i missing something ? are they not meant to be bothered more about the lives of the citizens?
