fwiw I spent summer of 2019 at Amazon and this tracks w the vibe I got. 

Further, I’ve experienced implicit and explicit biases/comments/questions about my presumed inability to understand technical things + numbers in almost every professional context I’ve been in once people learn I’m ex-Army.

I’d pretty much reduce all veteran advancement problems in tech to “tech people assume veterans can’t or eventually won’t keep up”

I’ve found it to be pretty consistent in the big tech + startup sv universe— and even more concentrated in the mba subsections of this

bizarre. haven’t experienced this and did not know it was a thing. might be isolated to specific regions?

I think it’s one of those “common knowledge that nobody knows where it came from” kinda thing

Could also be a remnant of “my one interaction with a vet in the workplace is right after they get out of the military” so it stands out bc they feel like a different culture

Wait, seriously? Was it a bias out of “you couldn’t get into college” or something like that?
