If you wanted to get really crazy you could do quadratic tipping We've already talked about accumulating allowances over a 2-7 day window, so what if repeat tips to the same account within that time window were also applied quadratically, ie every unit tipped after the first unit eats 2n-1 marginal units of allowance

Def helps to auto-reduce the damage farming accounts can do similar to max tipping among accounts - except they grow their tipping circle & you will need to up your game once again. Hence, on top of such mechanisms I still value community to control itself and weed out bad parties. This doesn’t need to be stasi 2.0 but can be a valuable job getting some of the fake tips similar to β€œpro” tippers applying for delegations to tip in channels, to tip for specific content - which is easy to track :)

I totally agree, I've pitched a few downvote mechanics or vouching mechanics, but there's a hard line to play. People don't like the negativity of downvotes, and if you want to make people vouch for each other, the rules can't be too complicated. Have any ideas to address those two problems?

vouch is top-down, i think it's too restrictive. downvote seems too generic - i think people consider downvote weaker than report and are afraid it might be used too liberally. why not openrank-based farming suspicion reporting? with strict rules - it's better to let some of the farming pass than to restrict honest tippers. (think "community notes" for degen)

What do you think the strict rules should be? I like the idea of crowdsourcing 'community notes'

since you said you don't want to create stasi 2.0 (this is my biggest worry tbh, a non-transparent algo that leads to dystopia), one piece of the toolkit would be to require skin in the game, via degen. People should be willing to stake degen to clean up degen: stake; report; forfeit the stake if a community-emergent judgement system determines it was abusive, or collect some portion of the recovered funds. Note: I have long been on the record as hating the "Star Chamber" of previous seasons which led to bans. Community Notes algo seems like a promising direction to me

1️⃣ Rules for farmers (extend with community input & $degen needs) 1. No tipping in circles (identified manually, via Dune) 2. No tip for tip asking (identified auto or via frame, comment by community) 2️⃣ I'd add rules for content I don't want to see (& believe many casters would adjust their behavior (partially for the better) knowing these rules) 3. No tip allocation pics 4. No tipping back to a tipper 5. No tip for work Essentially, we can take a look at the sad state of /degen, worst behavior there, iteratively add rules vs farmer adjustments. 3️⃣ I like the idea of tinder-like rating tips: "disqualify" vs good tip. This could be a frame & develop into an app where you can add comments & tips too, get some $degen for activity (# swipes, daily min, long streaks). For starters, it would only ask people to identify clear farmers/bots (& maybe a note for suspicious tipping) - but could advance to rate casts & tip behavior from 1 - 10 & then help with discovery of good posts, good tippers.

i might've used a wrong word - i wanted to say "clear" rather than "strict". it's nontrivial to come up with them right away, but we should start with something, and update every season until we converge to something that works (the rule of thumb is the fewer rules the better). imo the only rule necessary is "no farming", but it obviously has to come with "pattern library" so people know what not to do and degen team knows what to punish. what i had in mind would be a system consisting of 2 roles: - police (for lack of a better term) - judges 1/2
