I previously assumed Bluesky’s left-wing growth was by complete accident but if you look at their copy, the emphasis on moderation will actually resonate more with folks that lean more authoritarian. Think safe spaces, reddit policing etc.

The majority of their user FAQ is about moderation, custom feeds and blocking accounts. Nothing about what it means to own your account, alternative clients, what is “AT Protocol” etc.

this is mostly counter-positioning against twitter which makes sense. i honestly don’t think many people care about decentralization or those types of features. if it works and provides the features they miss/want, then that’s what matters
