I previously assumed Bluesky’s left-wing growth was by complete accident but if you look at their copy, the emphasis on moderation will actually resonate more with folks that lean more authoritarian. Think safe spaces, reddit policing etc.

The majority of their user FAQ is about moderation, custom feeds and blocking accounts. Nothing about what it means to own your account, alternative clients, what is “AT Protocol” etc.

The funny thing is, their users don't seem to care if it's actually decentralized or not. They just care that Bluesky isn't owned my Musk.
