i occasionally wonder if achieving “mass adoption” means everyone joins us and our culture or if it means that everyone uses our tools to create their own cultures increasingly leaning towards the latter

the divergence between farcaster and CT culture indicates that the latter is the right answer here

The latter, yes. When the home computer took off, the Homebrew Computer Club didn't scale to millions. But it did mean masses of people found — and founded — their own niches and tribes on bulletin board systems, Usenet newsgroups, and their successors.

The latter, by far. Another important one is to preserve their own cultures.

I think the corollary of it being number two is how much of crypto culture will survive

always the 2nd. expecting the world to take the culture here is a bit of a reach imo. its v niche and not exactly the most easy to get any age from 14-60 to get It ! excited to see more "normies" using the tech for things

Definitely the latter. We build the tools. Others build, abstract, and productize the tools. Mass adoption happens on top of the products, and the end-user doesn't know much about the tools underneath.

Its absolutely the latter choice. And thats cool. Let ppl discover the cool shit we love and make it their own and continue the cycle.

Sounds great, but: 1) all visible here is crypto-centered 2) I do not see too much top-down support for "other cultures" 3) channels are still centralized

Definitely the latter! Everyone wants to be a part of a community, and it's much more reasonable for all of us to find our niche groups around shared interests and experiences. Our tools can and should (and will) make that easier

crypto culture is to create so I would say that if people create their own communities they’re following in the steps of great crypto users before them crypto users are barrier breakers

I'm afraid that it's the latter too unfortunately. Just stay real, and hope everything will be okay. I pray that they adapt to our ways and embrace the culture but at this point, it can go either way. I want to treasure what we have now, we just need more of us to continue the tradition
